Colorpad

Colorpad Screenshot

I've updated my Recommended Software page to include ColorpadColorpad is a free light-weight utility to identify the colour of on-screen pixels.  From what I've found, Colorpad is abandonware.  It's no longer developed and not officially hosted anywhere.  Fortunately Skinnabled.org maintains an archive of the application.

Until I found Colorpad, if I needed to identify a colour in my own website either had to rummage through the CSS file, or fire up Photoshop, take a screenshot and use the eyedropper toolColorpad allows you to drag your mouse anywhere on the screen to see it's colour value and copy it to the clipboard for pasting into HTML or Photoshop's color picker.

Colorpad also allows you view a zoomed area of the screen and select the average colour of a range of pixels.

It has become a real time saver.

Use "&lt;" and "&gt;" for "<" and ">". Enclosing PHP code in <code> tags will highlight the code (i.e. <code>&lt;?php echo 'hello world'; ?&gt;</code>).
