Colourize Black & White Photos

Ever found a black and white photo and thought, "That would look great in colour"? Probably not, but just in case you do there is a clever program called Recolored to do it for you. Check out the gallery for some nice examples.

I've been having a play and it's surprisingly difficult to produce realistic results when you don't know what the original colours where.

I seen this method of colourisation many months ago, done with a Matlab algorithm. I actually have access to Matlab at work but couldn't get the code to work — probably because I have no idea how to use Matlab.
