Copernic 2
I haven't really been waiting for a new version of Copernic Desktop Search. But it's here anyway and I'm pleased.
If you don't already know, Copernic Desktop Search is a software package that allows you to search for files on your PC, like with Google Desktop Search.
What's new in Copernic Desktop Search 2 over 1.7 is an improved user interface that gives you quicker access to your search results. You can see your search results without having to open the Copernic window (although you won't see a preview of your file this way). Also, previously you could only see just the results for e-mails, or just the results for images, but now you can see matches for you search across all categories at once.
1.7 users aren't notified that a new version exists if you check for updates. Which seems a strange choice. And the only downside to upgrading is that all your files will need to be re-indexed. The 1.7 index obviously isn't compatible with 2.
I highly recommend Copernic Desktop Search. It's the best free desktop search engine there is.
