Don't Litter
I'm sick to death of Thumbs.db. Whichever Microsoft programmer came up with the idea of putting a Thumbs.db file in every folder that contains an image should be shot. The same goes for you too, desktop.ini. These non-biodegradable files will be floating around my computer and the internet for centuries.
Right now I have Dreamweaver synchronising over 5000 files (yup, the site needs a clean-up) and every 15 seconds it stops to tell me Thumbs.db or Desktop.ini could not be copied. It's driving me nuts. Had I had my thinking cap on I would have deleted all those files first. In fact, I think I'll cancel and do that now.
Since I can't resist an opportunity to talk it up, Directory Opus doesn't litter your computer with Thumbs.db. Instead it uses it's own central database for this purpose which is a logical idea. The Thumbs.db files littered througout the site are from other users, not me. I groan out loud everytime I recieve a zipped files from someone with these pesky files attached to them — like chewing gum the heel of your shoe.
