VAriable Width Wii Sensor-bar
I seen a post on a forum where someone commented that because they use their Nintendo Wii on a projector (obviously a very large screen) there is a huge difference between where you point and where the cursor appears on the screen.
Wireless Wii sensor bars are on the market but I'm surprised no one (that I've seen) has created a sensor bar where you can adjust the distance between the two sets of IR lights.
With a variable width sensor bar you should, in theory, be able to adjust it so where you point is where the cursor appears no matter what sized screen you have.
Once you figured out the seperation needed for one TV it would be easy to calculate the ratio for how far they need to be apart for any sized screens.
And this would also help with Rayman Raving Rabbids where the game insists you sit within 6 or 7 feet of the of TV. If I could seperate the IR lights in the sensor bar further I might be able to sit back in my lounge and play the game from 8 feet away.
I've actually started to talk to a guy at work who is clue-ee about electronics to see about building one.

I have a projector too and this is one of the main reasons I'm wavering on getting a Wii. I hear two candles work and there are wireless sensor bars, but has anyone made just a homegrown solution with two IR transmitters (safer than candles?)

Will be testing the dual IR transmitter solution tonight on a 102" projection screen. I'll follow up with the results.

I am very interested in this solution. I have also wondered why no one ever tried this out. Please keep me posted...

Rules: Paragraphs and linebreaks are automatically created (two or more linebreaks create a paragraph). Linebreaks between code tags remain linebreaks. Block tags cannot be enclosed by inline tags. Red attributes are required and green is optional.
Use "<" and ">" for "<" and ">". Enclosing PHP code in <code> tags will highlight the code (i.e. <code><?php echo 'hello world'; ?></code>).
List of valid tags:

Have you guys made any progress with this? I have a 126" screen that makes any kind of point and shoot functionality difficult.
