Keep Downloading After Closing Opera
Ever had to keep Opera open on your desktop purely because you're in the middle of downloading a file? This tip is for you.
The only reason why you might think that you have to abort your download when closing opera is because it's an MDI application by default. If you are running Opera in SDI mode you don't need to worry about this. So the trick to keeping your download going after closing Opera is to detach the Transfers page by dragging its tab outside of the bounds of the Opera window. You can now close your Opera window and so long as the Transfers page remains open you download will continue.
If you don't want to see the Transfers page page on your taskbar you can press Ctrl + H to minimise it to your system tray.
To reattach the Transfers page to Opera, open the Windows panel and drag the Transfers page back under the Opera group. Alternatively you can close the Transfers page and re-open it from the Opera windows by selecting Tools from the menu bar, then Transfers or press Ctrl + Alt + T (Note: if you are running dual monitors like me, make sure the Transfers page overlaps your Opera window before closing or when you press Ctrl + Alt + T it will appear way off the window area where you can't reach it.)
